    Abstract:

Four genie models controlling hybrid sterility in cultivated rice are reviewed in the present paper:(1) duplicate gametophytic lethal, (2) one locus sporo-gametophytic interaction; (3)one locus sporophytic sterility, and(4)complementary sporophytic sterility. The possibility of overcoming the hybrid sterility in cultivated rice by the use of wide-compatibility gene(a) and specific-compatibility genes is discussed.
