Abstract:

The substance FI 5 was isolated from the seeds of introduced neem trees ( Azadirachta indica A. Juss) planted in China by open column chromatography on silica gel. On the basis of spectroscopic analysis its structure was identified as azadirachtin. The result of no choice antifeedant experiment against the larvae of Pieris rapae showed that it had the most potential antifeedant activity.
