    Abstract:

A experiment was conducted to find the differences of 10 biochemical characters in callus of 11 sugarcane genotypes, and to find the correlation relationship between these characters and cane yield, Brix under field conditions. The results showed that the contents of dry matter, reducing sugar, sucrose, total sugars and soluble proteins and the activities of acid invertase (AI), neutral invertase(NI), polyphenol oxidase(PPO), peroxidase(POD) and nitrate reductase (NR) were significantly different. The coefficient between the cane yield and the content of dry matter was positive in significant level. There were significant negative correlation relationship between Brix and the reducing sugar content, AI and PPO.
