Belonging to the north part of Taihang Mountains,Xiaowutaishan is located at the north Hebei Province.Through a field collecting trip in the summer of 2005,five species of the genus Carabus were collected from Xiaowutaishan National Nature Reserve: Carabus(Aulonocarabus) canaliculatus Adams,C.(Pagocarabus) crassesculptus Kraatz,C.(Morphocarabus) latreillei Fischer,C.(Oreocarabus) vladimirskyi Dejean and C.(Scambocarabus) sculptipennis Chaudoir.Among them,the latter three were newly discovered from the nature reserve.
