Abstract:Two pathogens were isolated from root rot of kiwifruit in Heping county, Guangdong Province. According to their cultural characters and morphology, they were identified as Phytophthora cinnamomi Rands ( mating type A1 )and Fusarium solani (Mart.) Sacc.. By artificial inoculation in greenhouse, it was showed that P.cinnamomi possessed higher pathogenicity, and F.solani was the second invader which could not attack the kiwifruit alone, but might accelerate the root rot together with P.cinnamomi.

Abstract:The effects of the heat stable substance excreted by a virulent strain of Pseudomonas solanacearum on tissue cultures of tomatoes were studied.The results showed that there existed a kind of toxic component in the plateoculture filtrate(PCF),which was demonstrated to be neither enzymes nor extracellular polysaccharide (EPS). This substance was toxic to the differentiation of tomato leaf discs and the rooting of shoots,while EPS had not such effect.

Abstract:The larvae of Liriomyza sativae Blanchard leafmining activity and its instar distinguishing were studied in this paper. The results indicated that, 1) larval instar could be distinguished from the length of cephalopharyngeal skeleton; 2) the mean mine lengths mined by the larvae showed significantly differences under various temperatures treated , no significant differences were observed on its mean mine area; 3) both mean mine length and mean mine area mined by the larvae were changable with their host plants; 4) the third instar larvae was the main one of larvae to damage, its mean mine area occupied over 82% of total larval infestation, and 5)using the mine length mined by the larvae could conveniently determine the instar sizes. The relationships between the mine length mined and instar sizes at various common host plants were described in the paper.

Abstract:Six important genera of plant parasitic nematodes were found in three banana plantation Yunnan Province.They are Meloidogyne incognita , Helicotylenchus, Tylenchorhynchus, Hoplolaimus, Trichodorus and Hemicriconemoides. The genera Meloidogyne, Hoplolaimus and Tylenchorhynchus were found widely distributed in three plantations. M.incognita was a predominant species and present in the highest population density, occupying 63.88% of the total population in annual banana plantation, 75.16% in biennial banana plantation, and 52.15% in perennial banana plantation. Further studies indicated that M.incognita had distinctly seasonal fluctuation. It suggested that the population fluctuation was closely correlated with the average month temperature and rainfall.

Abstract:In China, many methods have been tried and used in the prevention and control of the termites in dams. Five widely-used methods of prevent and control of termites in dams were introduced in the paper. Abstract:Seven early indica rice varieteies cultivatied in Guangdong were selected as parents, making twelve pairs of reciprocal combinations, to determine the relative content of the pI (isoelectricpoint) range protein components of the highest nutrition based on the isoelectrofocusing-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (IEF-PAGE) separation and the quantity fixed according to the scan, in an attempt to find out the parent-descendant (F 1) relationship in the relative content by statistics. The result indicated that there was a significantly positive correlation between parents and their next generation which was more closely related to the female parent than to the male parent. The result with the study method has important significance in the nutrition quality breeding of rice proteins.

Abstract:During the vase-holding life of cut Hedychium coronarium spike , the dry weight of flowerets and their contents of soluble protein and soluble carbohydrate increased at first and decreased after full bloom. The activities of SOD,CAT,POD decreased at first and then increased ,the activity of SOD peaking in the fully bloom floweret, while the activities of CAT,POD reached peaks at a relatively later time when the flowerets began to bend. The content of MDA increased all the time, but increased significantly only at the later period when the activities of SOD,CAT,POD began to decrease again. The plasma membrane permeability was stable at first and increased sharply after full bloom when the content of MDA accumulated to a high level. These indicated that disorder of active oxygen metabolism was probably responsible for the senescence of cut H. coronarium spike during the vase-holding life.

Abstract:The results of this investigation indicated that peroxidase activities were very different both among the different organs in the same variety and among the same organs of different varieties in 6 sugarcane cultivars,i.e. Yuenong 76/169,Q75,Guitang NO.1,Fuzhe 77/3003,India CO 331,and POJ 2878.In the blades, petioles, stem tips, mature stems, and roots, the numbers of isoperoxidases were significantly different both among the organs of the same variety and among the same organs of different varieties.

Abstract:The study was aimed at the effect of storage under high temperatures on the peroxide of membrane lipid and permeability of both peel and pulp of banana fruit. It was demonstrated that the overall tendencies were as follows: high temperatures speeded up the peroxide of membrane lipid. The contents of MDA and the cell permeability of both peel and pulp were increased. The pulp was more sensitive to the high temperatures than the peel. The treatment with ethylene absorbent in MA storage significantly delayed the time that the MDA contents and cell permeability increased. The ethylene absorbent significantly increased storage life of banana under high temperatures.

Abstract:Studies were made in the morphology of seedling, the peroxidase isozyme patterns of dormant seed and stem of seedling, the fruiting rate of cross, geographic and biological characteristics in cole crops. Coupled with the earlier studies, it was concluded that it was more reasonable to treat Chinese kale as a separate species. Amendment to the key to cole crops was also put forward.

Abstract:Terpenoids which widely exists in the higher plants is one of the metabolite of plants, and it plays a important role in the ecological systems. The relationship between the allelopathic effects and the community succession was reviewed. In this paper some subjects such as the bio synthesis of terpenoids, main plant species containing terpenoids, major compounds of terpenoids, ways of the terpenoids entering into environment and their water solubility were discussed.
