Using the data of China Rural Revitalization Survey (CRRS) in 2020, this paper discusses the impact of digital rural development on the health level of rural elderly people and its mechanism. The findings are as follows: First, the development of digital countryside can improve the health level of rural elderly people. The digitalization of rural economy, the digitalization of rural governance, the digitalization of rural life and the digitalization of rural infrastructure have all improved the health level of rural elderly people, and the marginal effect of the digitalization of rural economy on the health of the rural elderly is minimal. Second, digital rural development improves the health of rural elderly people by helping rural economy, rural governance and rural life. Third, the impact of digital rural development on the health level of the elderly is heterogeneous in three aspects: village geographical location, village topography and whether to participate in pension insurance. Based on the above conclusions, this paper believes that digital rural construction should be comprehensively promoted to help rural governance, rural life and rural economy, so as to improve the health level of rural elderly people, actively cope with population aging, and promote the development of healthy China. |
