Abstract:With the increasing aging of rural population, a multiple- service system of elderly care, mainly including the model of family support, the model of community care, the model of rural social pension insurance and the model of institutional care, has been gradually formed in rural China. However, for one thing, the obvious fracture and even mutual exclusion can be found among different models. For another, these models have respectively experienced the plight in varying degrees. Therefore, the entire service system of elderly care in rural China shows an obvious feature of fragmentation, which makes it difficult to effectively deal with the increasingly severe crisis of elderly care in rural China. My research argues that, on the basis of diverse political, economic and cultural conditions in different regions and individualized needs, the main solution to the elderly care crisis in rural China is to construct a multi-layered and multi-stage compound service system of elderly care, via pushing the organic integration among different models, taking full advantage of the rural medical resources and encouraging the elderly to give full play to their individual initiatives and creativities in the construction of service system.
