Abstract:This paper attempts to examine the behavior and intention of rural residents’ choice of information channels, and analyzes the influencing factors from three aspects of social and economic capital, information capital, and information capital barrier, and explores how to cultivate "digital rural residents". The research shows that most rural residents still prefer to get information through traditional information channels, but they also have the will to become "digital rural residents", rural broadband construction has also achieved certain results. The construction of digital villages should fully respect the reality and consider how new technologies can empower traditional information channels. The government should re-examine the function and operation of information service agencies, make full efforts to strengthen internet training for rural residents, improve the external environment, and remove all kinds of obstacles for rural residents to seek information.
