Abstract:Cooperatives are not only a mutual aid economic organization, but also a social service organization. Through land replacement, cultural innovation, mutual funding assistance, and labor self-reliance, cooperatives have involved in the specific practice of rural eldercare supply, and have played a positive role in improving economic efficiency, promoting rural community renaissance and enhancing the welfare of the elderly. The main reason is that the advancement of land reform, the implementation of new rural cooperative medical care and the incentives for mutual aid operation subsidies have provided the institutional conditions for the operation of cooperatives involving in providing rural eldercare services. Moreover, the characteristics of multi-support and flexible adaptation have also made it become the Grounded forms of mutual support practice. However, there are still bottlenecks in the practice of cooperative providing rural eldercare services, such as narrow benefit coverage, low service level, and low sustainable motivation. In this regard, the cooperatives should seize the development opportunities of rural vitalization and make breakthroughs in four areas for future development, including urban-rural integration, industrial integration, service integration, and market integration.
